The novel “The Book of Mirdad” written in English by the prominent Arab writer, Mîkhâîl Nu‘ayma, conveys literary-philosophical, theological characteristics in the Humanistic perspective. In the novel, Islam and Christianity, Sufism and mysticism have been taken up in different aspects. The subjects such as the flood of Noah, the temporality of the world, the concept of “Self”, the judgement day and the maturity of human-being have been taken up in the novel with the ideas of mystical thoughts of Islam and Christianity.
Öz: Ünlü Arap yazar Mîhâîl Nu‘ayme, İngiliz dilinde kaleme aldığı “The Book of Mirdad” (Mirdad’ın Kitabı) adlı eserinde edebî-felsefî, dinî-teoloji gibi konuları ele alarak onları humanist bir bakış açısıyla ortaya koymaktadır. Romanda İslam ve Hristiyanlık, sufizm ve mistisizm konuları çeşitli yönlerden ele alınmıştır. Nuh’un tufanı, dünyanın faniliği, “benlik” düşüncesi, kıyamet, insanın manevî kemâle ermesi gibi konular İslam ve Hristiyan dinlerinin mistik düşünce tarzıyla ele alınmıştır.
