Determination of Yield and Some Quality Traits of Some Oil Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) Genotypes as Main Crop in Mardin Ecological Conditions
Abstract
This research was carried out to determine the yield and some quality traits of 20 oil-bearing hybrid sunflower genotypes based on rainfall as the main crop in the ecological conditions of Mazıdağı and Savur districts of Mardin province and to help future studies. The study was carried out in 2022 according to a randomized complete block design with 3 replications. Ash ratio (%), starch ratio (%), protein rate (%), oil rate (%), seed yield (kg.da-1) and internal yield (kg.da-1) traits were examined. The change of values and their average value are respectively for ash ratio, 3.18%-4.69%, 4.11%; starch ratio, 21.43%-39.69%, 30.25%, protein rate, 18.41%-22.89%, 20.93%; oil rate, 25.12%-36.52%, 30.69%; seed yield, 35.62 kg da-1-215.58 kg da-1, 116.25 kg da-1; internal yield, 27.78 kg da-1-155.33 kg da-1, 84.70 kg da-1. The statistically significant differences between the genotypes for yield and some quality traits examined indicate that the genetic differences between the genotypes are quite high. For the protein rate trait, seed yield, 1000 seed weight, hectoliter weight, and internal yield traits; for the oil rate trait, physiological death; for the seed yield trait, 1000 seed weight, head diameter, hectoliter weight, internal yield, physiological death, protein ratio, shell rate, starch ratio, and cellulose ratio; for the Internal yield trait, 1000 seed weight, hectoliter weight, seed yield values, head diameter, and physiological death traits can be used and are recommended to be used as selection parameters by sunflower breeders.
