Models of experimental epilepsy

Öz

Epilepsi, % 1 prevelansa sahip olduğu tahmin edilen, dünyada en yaygın görülen ciddi nörololojik durumdur. Birçok sayıda, deneysel epilepsi ve nöbet modeli geliştirilmiştir. Bu deneysel modeller hayvanlarda elektrik uyarımı, kimyasal konvülsanlar, genetik modeller, yapısal lezyonlar, fiziksel uyaranlar (soğuk, basınç, hipertermi, elektriksel) ile oluşturulmaktadır. İyi karakterize edilmiş hayvan modelleri epileptogenezisin (normal nöronal bir ağın spontan, hipereksitabilite ağına değişmesi) altında yatan temel mekanizmaların anlaşılmasına olanak sağlayabilmektedir. Üstelik bu modeller epilepsi tedavisinde yeni tedavi edici yaklaşımların belirlenmesinde de yararlı olabilmektedir. Klin Den Ar Derg 2011; 2(1): 118-123
