Delayed Tracheal Perforation Following Thyroidectomy: A Rare Complication
Abstract
Tracheal perforation after thyroidectomy is a rare complication. A 50-year-old woman, who underwent total thyroidectomy for multinodular goiter, developed tracheal perforation on the 10th postoperative day following a severe coughing episode. The perforation was repaired surgically, and the patient was discharged. This case highlights that tracheal perforation can occur in the late postoperative period and underscores the importance of early intervention.
