Journal of Economy, Culture and Society (JECS) is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research on the relationships among economy, culture, and society from an economic-sociological perspective. The journal is particularly interested in studies examining how economic action, institutions, relations, and transformations are shaped by social and cultural forces. It also welcomes relevant contributions from economics and sociology that address the journal’s central concerns.
The journal welcomes theoretically informed empirical research employing qualitative, quantitative, comparative, historical, computational, or mixed methods. It also welcomes theoretical, conceptual, and methodological work that advances knowledge in economic sociology, including work drawing on relevant theories and methods from economics and sociology. Empirical submissions are expected to move beyond the presentation of case-specific findings by clearly explaining their broader theoretical and scholarly significance.
As JECS addresses an international academic readership, submissions should demonstrate the broader relevance of their research questions, arguments, or findings. Studies focusing on a particular country, region, community, organisation, or case are welcome when they contribute to wider debates in economic sociology, economics, or sociology.
Manuscripts must be submitted in English.
