THE ADAPTATION OF FETAL ATTACHMENT INVENTORY TO TURKISH WITH A GROUP OF PREGNANT WOMEN

Year 2013, Volume: 10 Issue: 39, 1609 - 1614, 01.07.2013

Abstract

Aim: Attachment is the ability to form and maintain healthy relationships. John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth were the pioneers in the field of attachment theory. Prenatal attachment is the emotional bond established between parents and their unborn children. The attachment between the pregnant women and the fetus had been described as the first important relation to the baby and has strongly been associated with the following mother-child relation after the birth. In this process, prenatal attachment has great importance. However it is neededto evaluate the prenatal attachment in a proper with a valid and reliable vehicle.Materials and Method: In order to examine the validity and reliability of the scale, a Turkish version of the Muller’s Prenatal Attachment Inventoryis administered to 295 pregnant women. Results: Cronbach Alpha test, showing the internal consistency of the Prenatal Attachment Inventory was 0.789. Principal component analysis was applied to examine the validity of the scale. The results showed that the scale had one-dimension and total variability explained was 34.528%.Conclusion: The current study conducted on a group of pregnant shows that Muller’s Prenatal Attachment Inventory is a valid and reliable scale.

DOĞUM ÖNCESİ BAĞLANMA ENVANTERİ’NİN BİR GRUP GEBE ÜZERİNDE TÜRKÇEYE UYARLAMA ÇALIŞMASI

Year 2013, Volume: 10 Issue: 39, 1609 - 1614, 01.07.2013
