Language Policy

As part of its internationalization strategy, JIENS updated its language policy effective 18 August 2026. From this date onward, manuscripts must be submitted and published exclusively in English. Articles published before this date may be in Turkish or English in accordance with the journal's previous publication policy. Manuscripts should be written in clear, fluent, and academically appropriate English using standard scientific and technical terminology.

Manuscripts should present relevant, original, and scientifically meaningful information. Previously published data, methods, equations, figures, and results must be appropriately cited with reference to their original sources. Nomenclature, abbreviations, symbols, and terminology should conform to internationally recognized standards. Abbreviations that are specific to the manuscript or field should be defined at their first occurrence.

The manuscripts are required to comply with national and international ethic rules for publishing. Authors must pay attention to ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) recommendations and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, namely “COPE Core Practices”.  

Publication Ethics Compliance

Before submitting a manuscript, authors are required to carefully read the journal's Ethical Principles and Publication Policy available on the journal website.

Submission of a manuscript confirms that:

• all authors meet the journal's Authorship Policy and the ICMJE authorship criteria;
• all authors have approved the submitted version of the manuscript;
• the manuscript is original and has not been submitted or published elsewhere;
• all conflicts of interest have been disclosed;
• all sources of funding have been declared;
• ethical approval has been obtained where required;
• the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), if applicable, has been appropriately disclosed;
• the manuscript complies with the ethical principles adopted by JIENS.

JIENS accepts the following manuscript types:

• Letters to the Editor

Format: Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the templates as follows:

The manuscripts must be uploaded in “.docx” extension.


2. Article Structure

Scaling: The page margins should be 2.5 cm (Right-Left-Above-Below). The margin values should not be changed in the template.

Title: A title should be comprehensive and understandable. The title should be written with Times New Roman (TNR) font in 14 size and it should be left aligned. The first letter should be written in capital letter and the rest are in lowercase. 

Author Names and Contacts: The name line should be placed as left aligned under the title line. The titles of the authors should not be written before names. The contact information should be given in full-length. A letter superscript should be used in terms of different contacts. The contact information should be written with TNR font in 7 size and italic style. In addition, the corresponding author's phone and e-mail address should be written with TNR font in 7 size.

Keywords: A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 keywords should be provided immediately after the abstract. Keywords should be written in Times New Roman (TNR), 7-point font, and left-aligned.

Abstract: The abstract should briefly state the purpose of the research, methodology, principal results, and major conclusions. The abstract must be written in English, should not exceed 250 words, and should be presented as a single paragraph. It should be written in Times New Roman (TNR), 7-point font, and justified.

Text: The main text of the manuscript should be written using TNR font in 10 size with 1.5 line spacing. Before paragraphs, line spacing should be set to 0 PT before spaces and 6 PT after spaces. The article should be divided into main sections with different titles and each section should be numbered. The titles should be written in Bold Font. In terms of main sections, the numbering should start from I (then II, III, …) and “Summary”, “Acknowledgments” and “References” should be not included in the section numbering. Considering the numbering of the related main section, secondary subsections should be numbered as 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, … and the first letters of the words placed the secondary titles should start with capital letters. Regarding  the secondary subsections, tertiary subsections should be numbered as 1.1.1., 1.1.2., 1.1.3…For the tertiary subsections, only the first letter of the first word should be capitalized. Fourth subsections should be underlined. The format of the article is illustrated as follows:

I. INTRODUCTION

The Introduction should clearly state the objectives of the study and provide sufficient background information. The research topic should be presented concisely without including an unnecessarily detailed literature review or research results. The contribution of relevant previous studies should be appropriately discussed and cited. References should not be hyperlinked.


II. EXPERIMENTAL METHOD/THEORETICAL METHOD

For experimental studies, the experimental procedures and methods should be described clearly and in sufficient detail to ensure reproducibility. For theoretical studies, the theoretical methodology should be explained in sufficient detail. If previously published methods are used or modified, appropriate references should be provided and any modifications or differences should be clearly stated.

III. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Results should be presented clearly and concisely. The Discussion should interpret the significance of the findings, compare them with relevant published literature, and highlight their scientific contribution and implications.


IV. CONCLUSION

The Conclusion should clearly and concisely summarize the main findings of the study, their significance, and, where appropriate, potential implications or future research directions.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Acknowledgement section, if applicable, should be placed before the References section. Authors may acknowledge individuals, institutions, projects, or organizations that provided support but do not meet the criteria for authorship. Funding information should be declared in accordance with the journal's funding disclosure policy.

REFERENCES

Citation

Reference citations in the text should be identified by numbers in square brackets. Some examples:

1. Negotiation research spans many disciplines [3].

2. This result was later contradicted by Becker and Seligman [5].

3. This effect has been widely studied [1-3, 7].


Reference list

The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Personal communications and unpublished works should only be mentioned in the text.

The entries in the list should be numbered consecutively.

If available, please always include DOIs as full DOI links in your reference list (e.g. “https://doi.org/abc”).

APPENDICES

If there is one appendix, it should be identified as APPENDIX A. If there is more than one appendix, they should be identified as APPENDIX A, B, C etc. In appendices, formulas and equations should be numbered as A1, A2, A3 etc. and, tables and figures should be numbered as Table A1, Table A2, Figure A1, Figure A2 etc.

Equations and Numbering: Equations should be cited in the text as Eq. (1), Eq. (2), etc. Equations should be numbered consecutively using parentheses, as (1), (2), (3), etc., and chemical reactions, where applicable, as (R1), (R2), (R3), etc. Equations should be prepared using MathType or the Microsoft Equation Editor.

Units: SI unit system should be used in the text, figures and tables. For example, "min" should be used instead of "minute", "h" units should be used instead of "hour"

Footnotes: Footnotes should be avoided as much as possible, but if necessary, they should be written at the bottom of the page and this section should be separated by a line from the main text.

Tables: Table captions should be placed at the top of the related table and should be written with TNR font in 8 size. Vertical lines should not be used in tables. Variables should be written as Bold font. If any, units should be in italics and shown in parentheses one line below.  

Figures: Figures should be uploaded in JPEG or TIFF format. Figure captions should be at the bottom of the related figure,  should be written using TNR font in 8 size. Figures should be numbered by considering in which main section they are presented. Figures should be placed in main text. The resolution of the figures must be at least 300 DPI.  If necessary, inset figures can be used. For figure notes, the font should be TNR, Arial or Symbol. The  font size of  the notes should not be larger than 10 size. Please avoid using outer border. 


3. Article Submission

1. Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the appropriate journal template and submit them through the online submission system. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all author names, affiliations, e-mail addresses, and other submission information are complete and accurate at the time of submission. Any changes to authorship after submission are subject to the journal's Authorship Policy.

2. Upon reaching the editorial office, all submissions undergo a preliminary check on Intihal.net for compliance with the writing guidelines and similarity index. A similarity report will be generated during the file upload step, and the author will be notified of the results via email. Once the result of the report is disclosed, the author can complete the submission process. All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software during the initial editorial assessment. Similarity reports are evaluated by the editors. Editorial decisions are based on the nature and context of the similarities rather than a fixed similarity percentage.

3. Authors retain the copyright of their manuscripts. By submitting a manuscript, authors grant the Journal of Innovative Engineering and Natural Science (JIENS) a non-exclusive license to review, publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, index, and communicate the accepted article in print and electronic formats. The corresponding author confirms that:

• all authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript;

• all authors agree to the submission and publication of the manuscript in JIENS;

• the manuscript is original and does not infringe upon the copyright or intellectual property rights of any third party;

• permission has been obtained for any copyrighted material reproduced in the manuscript.

The corresponding author must complete and sign the journal's Author Declaration and Publication Agreement on behalf of all authors. The corresponding author confirms that all co-authors have read and approved the manuscript and have agreed to its submission and publication in JIENS. Accepted manuscripts cannot be published until the completed agreement has been received by the Editorial Office.

4. Before completing the submission, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors satisfy the journal's Authorship Policy and the authorship criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

5. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all ethical declarations, including conflict of interest, funding information, ethics committee approval (where applicable), author contributions, and data availability statements are complete before submission.

6. Author contribution statements should be prepared according to the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) whenever applicable.
