Ortaokul öğrencilerinin 4006 TÜBİTAK bilim fuarlarına ilişkin görüşlerinin incelenmesinin amaçlandığı bu araştırma, nicel öncelikli nitel desen şeklinde karma desende tasarlanmıştır. Nicel örneklem grubunu 2023-2024 yılı Elâzığ ilinde öğrenim gören 150 ortaokul öğrencisi ve nitel çalışma grubunu ise amaçlı örneklem yöntemiyle seçilen Elâzığ ilindeki öğrenim gören 21 ortaokul öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın nicel bölümde; betimsel analizler, t-Testi ve ANOVA, nitel bölümünde içerik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre cinsiyet değişkenine göre 4006 TÜBİTAK bilim fuarlarının etkililiği açısından anlamlı bir farklılaşma olmadığı, bilim fuarlarına katılım durumu değişkenine göre 4006 TÜBİTAK bilim fuarlarının etkililiği açısından katılım gösteren öğrenciler lehine anlamlı bir farklılaşma olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sınıf düzeyi değişkenine göre ise sonuçların anlamlı farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. 4006-TÜBİTAK Bilim Fuarlarının gerekliliği hakkında ortaokul öğrencilerinin süreklilik, faydalı, eğlenceli, deneyim, özgüven kazanma, araştırıp öğrenme, sorunlara çözüm bulma, stresi azaltma, farkındalık oluşturma, sorumluluk kazanma, günlük hayat becerileri kazanma, Türkiye’nin geleceği gibi görüşler ifade ettikleri söylenebilir.
This study aims to examine the opinions of middle school students regarding the 4006 TÜBİTAK Science Fairs and is designed as a mixed-methods research with a quantitatively dominant, qualitatively supported design. The quantitative sample consists of 150 middle school students studying in Elazığ province during the 2023–2024 academic year, while the qualitative study group comprises 21 middle school students selected through purposive sampling. In the quantitative part of the study, descriptive statistics, t-tests, and ANOVA were conducted; in the qualitative part, content analysis was employed. According to the findings, there was no statistically significant difference in perceptions of the effectiveness of the 4006 TÜBİTAK Science Fairs based on gender. However, a significant difference was found in favor of students who had participated in the fairs, according to the participation variable. Additionally, the results showed a significant difference based on grade level. Middle school students expressed various opinions about the necessity of the 4006 TÜBİTAK Science Fairs, including views such as continuity, usefulness, enjoyment, gaining experience, building self-confidence, conducting research and learning, finding solutions to problems, reducing stress, raising awareness, developing a sense of responsibility, acquiring life skills, and contributing to Turkey’s future.

In addition, JIER serves to disseminate the academic work that contributes to the professional development of teachers and academicians, offering concrete solutions to the problems of all levels of education, from preschool education to higher education.
JIER has the priority to contribute to more qualified school practices.
