This research targets to present the general structure of the Tailoring School founded in Istanbul, which is considered within the scope of the vocational and technical education of the Republic of Turkey. In 1929, Tailoring School was opened and it trained tailors for several years. The school that consists of two departments is divided into sewing and cutting branches. As well as being a formal education institution, the school incorporated the Evening Tailoring School so that it trains young people who are tailors, and by performing a kind of non-formal education; it provided lifelong learning. In this study, historical research method was applied. Historical research enables to learn and understand the past in order to form a connection with the present. In addition, it provides an understanding that the events occuring today is a historical process. Furthermore, the researches that revealed as a result of historical research also constitute a literature on the subjects studied. The present study is also a historical research and is based on the documents belonging to the period of the relevant subject. In this context; as data analysis method of the research, descriptive approach was chosen. The purpose of the descriptive approach is to analyze and process the data by staying as faithful as possible to the original structure of the data gained as a result of the historical research. In the study, the works published by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Turkey, the instructions, the journal of communiqués, statistics and also various copyrighted works were used. The data obtained from these documents, which constitutes the basis of the study, were handled with as much fidelity as possible in line with the aim of the descriptive approach.
Bu çalışma Cumhuriyet Türkiyesi mesleki ve teknik öğretimi kapsamında değerlendirilen İstanbul’da kurulmuş olan Terzilik Okulunun genel yapısını ortaya koymayı amaçlamıştır. Terzilik Okulu 1929 yılında açılmış olup uzun yıllar ülkeye terzi yetiştirmiştir. Okul iki bölümlü olup dikiş ve biçki şubelerine ayrılmıştır. Örgün bir eğitim kurumu olmasının yanında terzi esnafı olan gençlerinde eğitilmesi amacıyla Akşam Terzilik Okulunu bünyesinde barındırmış, bir çeşit yaygın öğretim gerçekleştirerek hayat boyu öğrenme sağlamıştır. Çalışmada tarihsel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Tarihsel araştırma, geçmişin öğrenilmesini, anlaşılmasını ve günümüzle bir bağ kurulmasını, günümüzde gerçekleşenlerin tarihsel bir süreci olduğunun kavranmasını sağlar. Ayrıca tarih araştırmaları sonucunda ortaya çıkan çalışmalar, çalışılan konular ile ilgili bir literatür de oluşturmaktadır. Mevcut çalışma da bir tarihsel araştırma olup araştırılan konunun dönemine ait olan evraklara dayandırılmıştır. Bu bağlamdan bakıldığında araştırmada veri analizi olarak betimsel yaklaşım seçilmiştir. Betimsel yaklaşımın amacı yapılan tarihsel araştırma neticesinde elde edilen verilerin orjinal yapısına mümkün olduğu kadar sadık kalarak verileri işlemektir. Çalışmada Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından yayımlanan eserlerden, talimatnamelerden, Tebliğler Dergisinden, Devlet İstatistik Enstitüsünün yayımladığı istatistiklerden ve ayrıca çeşitli telif eserlerden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışmanın dayanağını oluşturan bu dokümanlardan elde edilen verilere betimsel yaklaşımın amacı doğrultusunda mümkün olduğu derecede sadakat gösterilerek ele alınmıştır.

JIER, has the potential to solve educational problems and has a strong gratification for the contributions of qualified scientific researchers.
JIER has the purpose of serving the construction of an education system that can win the knowledge and skills that each individual should have firstly in our country and then in the world. In addition, JIER serves to disseminate the academic work that contributes to the professional development of teachers and academicians, offering concrete solutions to the problems of all levels of education, from preschool education to higher education.
JIER has the priority to contribute to more qualified school practices. Creating and managing content within this context will help to advance towards the goal of being a "focus magazine" and "magazine school", and will also form the basis for a holistic view of educational issues. It also acts as an intermediary in the production of common mind for sustainable development and education
