The Electrical Project of High Voltage Switchyard Grounding Net
Abstract
Nowadays, grounding system has a complex structure covering large areas. Limiting the ground potential rise value threatening people life forms the basis of a safe grounding net. Shock currents occurring in high voltage facilities because of events like opening and closing, lightning, electrostatic discharges, short circuits and ground contacts must be directly transferred into the ground, therefore the design of power system grounding net requires to be perfect. Grounding resistance values of high voltage switchyard are measured using SELVAZ (Selected Voltage (V), Current (A), Impedance (Z)) method. The grounding net designed according to SELVAZ method makes touch and step voltages smaller than maximum tolerable touch and step voltages, keeps grounding resistances and the depth of buried grounding net within the standard limits giving possibility to obtain the most appropriate values. In this study, grounding net design was formed according to SELVAZ method using high volt- age switchyard grounding resistance values
