Investigation of Dry Hay Yield and Quality Characteristics of Common Vetch (Vicia sativa L.) Cultivars for in Igdir Plain Download Conditions

Abstract

This research was carried out to determine the most appropriate common vetch variety or varieties in terms of dry matter yield and quality characteristics in bottom land of Igdir Plain with arid region. For this purpose, hay yield (HY), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent ber (NDF), acide detergent ber (ADF), acide detergent lignin (ADL), dry matter digestibility (DMD), digestibility energy (DE) and metabolic energy (ME) and relative feed values (RFV) of 13 common vetch registered in Turkey and one local population were examined in Igdir University Agricultural Application and Research Station. The research was established randomized block design with three replications for two years in 2013 and 2014. According to the results, signi cant differences in all examined parameters in terms of common vetch cultivars and sowing years has been observed. In the research, It ranged from 213.35 to 547.88 kg-1 for hay yield, from 15.15 to 20.69% for HP, from 40.63 to 47.27% for NDF, form 28.94 to 35.71% for ADF, from 4.39 to 7.06% for ADL, from 61.08 to 66.35% for DMD, from 2.90 to 3.11 Mcal kg-1 for DE, from 2.38 to 2.55 Mcal kg-1 for ME and from 121.75 to 149.90 for RFV of vetch cultivars. According to the two-year combined averages, Gülhan-2005 Orakef and Bakır-2001 cultivars produced higher hay yields than other cultivars. While the highest DE, ME, DMD, RFV were measured in Görkem and Alınoğlu-2001, HP rates was measured in Emir cultivar. While the lowest ADL content was determined in Özveren cultivar, ADF and NDF percentages were found in Görkem. According to years, higher NDF, ADF, ADL and hay yield has produced in the second year. However, the highest HP, DMD, DE, ME and RFV were obtained in the first year.
