Kimberly A. Noels received Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Linguistics and a PhD in Psychology a at the University of Ottawa.  She continued with post-doctoral studies in Communication at the University of California Santa Barbara.  Her research interests focus on the social psychology of language and communication processes, particularly as they pertain to intercultural relations and communication. She is interested in how aspects of the social context, including opportunities for intergroup contact, relative group status, and situational norms are implicated in communication process. One facet of her research program concerns the relation between language behavior and ethnic identity, and how they are connected to acculturation. A second aspect is intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to learn languages, and how others (e.g., teachers, family members, and members of the language community) encourage or discourage learners' motivation. In both of these research programs she takes a socio-ecological, developmental perspective, using longitudinal designs and multilevel modeling, to better understand these dynamic and contextualized processes.

2011 yılında Türk Halk Edebiyatı alanında doktorasını tamamladı. 2019 yılında Türk Halk Bilimi alanında Doçent ünvanını aldı. Halen Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi'nde öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır.

Ali Karakas is an Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Turkey. His research primarily focuses on EMI, Global Englishes and language teacher education. His work has been published in journals including Asian Englishes, Linguistics and Education, System, RELC Journal and Ibérica. He has co-edited two volumes: English as the Medium of Instruction in Turkish Higher Education: Policy, Practice and Progress (2022) and Teacher Professional Development Programs in EMI Settings: International Perspectives (2025).
