We will present some examples of vegetal decoration (acanthus leaves; hederae leaves, rosettes…) represented
in some of the Roman Portuguese mosaics.
The aim is to analyze this decoration comparing the representations in the Portuguese mosaics with the mosaics
from some of the disseminating centers of North-Africa and the Middle-East.
For this analysis it is important to consider the paths these ornaments took reaching the southwest of Hispania
through different ways of contacts: the Continental, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.
