About Some Debated Place Names in the Book of Dädä Qorqut

Abstract

Some difficulties are observed in connection with the text in the processes of transliteration and publication. These difficulties are seen in the text of the Book of Dädä Qorqut. To reveal some historical truths and to restore chronological sequence of events in the Book of Dädä Qorqut, correct reading of the place names is of special importance taking into account all these facts, we endeavored to determine the correct reading forms, etymologies and the textual significations of the words, such as Altuntaxt, Arqu Bäl, Bambam Täpä, Ärdäbil, Sincidan/Suncudan, Tali Saz etc. which were read as place names, whereas they are not place names.
