Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Sosyal ve Akademik Entegrasyonu: Boylamsal Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı üniversitede öğrenim gören öğrencilerin üniversiteye sosyal ve akademik entegrasyon düzeylerinin yükseköğrenimin ilk yılı ile üçüncü yılı arasındaki değişimin ortaya çıkarmaktır. Boylamsal araştırma modelinde olan bu çalışmanın örneklemi Marmara bölgesinde yer alan bir devlet üniversitesinin çeşitli fakülte ve bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 134 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Braxton (1998) tarafından geliştirilen ve araştırmacılar tarafından Türk dil ve kültürüne uyarlanan ölçme aracı kullanılarak 3 yıl arayla toplanan veriler kullanılarak yapılan araştırmada ölçümlerden elde edilen sonuçların karşılaştırılması amacıyla Wilcoxon İşaretli Sıralar testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin ilk ve son ölçüm arasında geçen süre zarfında sosyal ve akademik uyum düzeylerinde önemli değişiklikler olduğu saptanmıştır

Social and Academic Integration of University Students: A Longitudinal Study

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to explore how students’ social and academic integration levels and types of engagements with educational settings changed in three years time period between freshman and junior years. This research is designed as a longitudinal study and it included 134 students attending various departments of a state university located in the Marmara Region. The survey developed by Braxton (1998) and adapted by the authors to the Turkish language and culture was employed as a data collection tool. Data collected in two different time period were compared in terms of pre-determined categories by using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. According to the findings, there is a significant difference between 1st year and last 3rd year measurements of students in terms of their social and academic integration
