Relationship Between Income Inequality and Economic Freedom: An Empirical Evaluation for OECD Countries
Abstract
The concept of economic freedom, refers to the possibility of individuals to be in economic activities without restrictive or coercive intervention and freely give direction the resources that they possess. Economic freedom determines the structure of the economic system and may constitute an explanatory factor for growth and the distribution of income. The purpose of this paper is to empirically test to the impact of economic freedom on distribution of income inequality for the QECD countries by using 2015 data and cross-sectional analysis method. According to the empirical results of the study, it is found that economic freedom has statistically significant and positive impact on income inequality.
