Abstract

Covid-19 epidemic disease was first seen in Wuhan Province of China in December 2019 and soon passed on to millions of people worldwide and caused the deaths of thousands of people. Of course, one of the most influential areas of this outbreak is in the stock markets of the country. In this study, the maximum number of Covid-19 cases found that 10 of the countries (Turkey, Brazil, France, Germany, England, Italy, Spain, Russia, China, USA) examined the relationship between mortality and the number of cases with stock market indices of these countries. In the econometric application part of the study, Maki (2012) Multiple Break Cointegration Test was used to test the long-term relationship. It can be seen that the econometric results of the study differ from country to country, and in some countries even Covid-19 death and case numbers show different interactions. It can be interpreted that the number of cases is less effective than the number of deaths.

Covid-19’un En Etkili Olduğu Ülkelerde Salgın-Borsa İlişkisi

Year 2020, , 354 - 364, 31.10.2020
https://doi.org/10.21547/jss.742893

Abstract

Covid-19 salgın hastalığı 2019 Aralık ayında Çin’in Wuhan eyaletinde ilk kez görülerek kısa süre içerisinde dünya genelinde milyonlarca kişiye bulaşmış ve binlerce insanın ölümüne yol açmıştır.
