1. General Principles
Osmaniye Korkut Ata University Journal of Health Sciences - OKÜSBD is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes high-quality, original, ethically sound, and open-access scientific studies in the field of health sciences.
Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be within the aim and scope of the journal and should be prepared in accordance with scientific and ethical principles. Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published and must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time.
By submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors are deemed to have accepted these conditions.
2. Publication Language
The publication languages of the journal are Turkish and English.
Manuscripts written in Turkish must include an English title, abstract, and keywords. Manuscripts written in English must include a Turkish title, abstract, and keywords.
3. Manuscript Types
The following types of manuscripts are considered for publication in the journal:
Original Research Article
Review Article
Systematic Review / Meta-Analysis
Case Report
Short Report / Technical Note
Editorial / Invited Article
The manuscript type should be specified by the author in accordance with the content of the study.
4. Preparation of the Manuscript File
The manuscript file should be prepared in accordance with scientific writing principles and written in a clear and understandable language. Spelling, grammar, and formatting consistency should be ensured throughout the text.
Since the journal applies a double-blind peer review process, the main manuscript file must not include author names, institutional affiliations, ORCID numbers, e-mail addresses, acknowledgements, project information, or any information that may reveal the identity of the authors.
Author names, institutional affiliations, ORCID numbers, and contact information must be entered completely into the DergiPark system.
5. Manuscript Title
The manuscript title should clearly, briefly, and accurately reflect the content of the study. Unnecessary abbreviations should be avoided in the title.
For manuscripts written in Turkish, an English title must be included. For manuscripts written in English, a Turkish title must be included.
6. Abstract and Keywords
For original research articles, a structured abstract is recommended.
Turkish Abstract Headings
Amaç: The aim of the study should be clearly stated.
Yöntem: The study design, sample or study group, data collection tools, and analysis methods should be briefly explained.
Bulgular: The main findings of the study should be presented.
Sonuç: The main conclusion and contribution of the study should be stated.
Anahtar Kelimeler: A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords should be provided.
English Abstract Headings
Objective: The aim of the study should be clearly stated.
Methods: The study design, sample or study group, data collection tools, and analysis methods should be briefly explained.
Results: The main findings of the study should be presented.
Conclusion: The main conclusion and contribution of the study should be stated.
Keywords: A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords should be provided.
7. Main Text Structure
Original research articles should generally include the following sections:
Introduction
The problem, significance, place in the literature, and aim of the study should be explained.
Methods
The study design, population and sample or study group, data collection tools, data collection process, ethical approval information, and data analysis methods should be stated.
Results
The findings obtained in the study should be presented clearly, systematically, and understandably. Tables and figures should be cited appropriately in the text.
Discussion
The findings should be discussed in line with the relevant literature. Similarities, differences, and the contribution of the study to the field should be explained.
Conclusion and Recommendations
The main results of the study should be summarized, and recommendations for practice, research, or education should be presented.
References
All references must be prepared in accordance with APA 7th edition guidelines.
For review articles, systematic reviews/meta-analyses, case reports, short reports, and technical notes, the main headings may be arranged according to the nature of the study.
8. Referencing Style
The journal uses the APA 7th edition referencing style.
In-text citations and the reference list must be prepared in accordance with APA 7th edition guidelines. DOI information should be included in the reference list for sources that have a DOI number.
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of references and the consistency between in-text citations and the reference list.
9. Tables, Figures, and Visuals
Tables, figures, and visuals should be numbered consecutively according to their order of appearance in the text.
Each table and figure should have a clear, understandable, and concise title. Table titles should be placed above the table, and figure titles should be placed below the figure.
Necessary permissions must be obtained and proper references must be provided for tables, figures, scales, photographs, or visuals taken from other sources.
10. Ethics Committee Approval and Research Ethics
For studies requiring ethics committee approval, the name of the ethics committee, approval date, and approval number must be stated in the Methods section. The ethics committee approval document must be uploaded to the DergiPark system.
For studies involving human participants, it must be stated that informed consent was obtained.
Authors are responsible for fulfilling all requirements related to research ethics, protection of personal data, open data where applicable, necessary permissions, and ethics committee processes.
11. Publication Ethics
Authors must avoid publication ethics violations such as plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, salami slicing, inappropriate authorship, and conflicts of interest.
In cases of suspected publication ethics violations, the journal editors carry out the necessary evaluation, correction, retraction, and notification processes in accordance with national and international publication ethics principles.
12. Double-Blind Peer Review Process
Manuscripts submitted to the journal are evaluated by at least two field experts within the scope of the double-blind peer review process after editorial preliminary review and similarity check.
The peer review process is carried out in accordance with the principles of scientific impartiality, confidentiality, and editorial independence.
13. Similarity Check
Manuscripts submitted to the journal may be checked for similarity during the editorial process. The similarity rate alone is not considered a reason for acceptance or rejection; the nature of the similarity is evaluated by the editors.
Authors are responsible for the originality of the manuscript and for ensuring that it does not contain plagiarism.
14. Declarations
Where applicable, the following declarations should be included at the end of the manuscript:
Ethics Committee Approval: The name of the ethics committee, approval date, and approval number should be stated.
Informed Consent: For studies involving human participants, informed consent information should be provided.
Conflict of Interest Statement: Authors should declare whether there is any conflict of interest.
Financial Support Statement: Authors should state whether the study received financial support.
Author Contribution Statement: The contributions of the authors to the study should be explained.
Acknowledgements: Individuals or institutions that contributed to the study may be acknowledged where necessary.
Data Availability Statement: Where applicable, the availability of research data should be stated.
15. Copyright, Open Access, and License
All articles published in the journal are freely and openly accessible.
In accordance with the decision of the institution and the editorial board, articles published in the journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License - CC BY-NC 4.0.
By submitting their manuscripts to the journal, authors are deemed to have accepted the journal’s open access and licensing policy.
16. Fee Policy
No fees are charged to authors or readers for manuscript submission, evaluation, acceptance, publication, or access.
The journal operates under a free open-access / diamond open-access publishing model.
