GÖRSEL OKURYAZARLIK EĞİTİMİNİN ÖĞRETMEN ADAYLARININ PROBLEM ÇÖZME YAKLAŞIMLARINA ETKİSİ: GAZİ ÜNİVERSİTESİ ÖRNEĞİ

Year 2013, Volume: 14 Issue: 3, 111 - 130, 01.08.2013

Abstract

The Effect of Visual Literacy Education on the Problem Solving Approaches of Teacher Trainees

Year 2013, Volume: 14 Issue: 3, 111 - 130, 01.08.2013

Abstract

This study has been conducted in order to describe the effect of visual literacy education on the problem solving approaches of teacher trainees. 89 teacher trainees have participated in the study. Teacher trainees have received a total of 180 minutes visual literacy education in three weeks within the scope of the course of instructional technology and materials design. Problem Solving Inventory PSI has been implemented to teacher trainees in pre and post education periods. The qualitative data were collected through a semi-structured interview form and qualitative data were collected through PSI. Qualitative data were content-analyzed and quantitative data were analyzed with t-test. The results suggest that visual literacy education enhanced the self-confidence, visual awareness and visual communication skills of the students. According to problem solving inventory following the visual literacy education, there have been significant differences in the sub-dimensions of “reserved” and “self-confident”
