Aim & Scope

Kastamonu Education Journal, published by Kastamonu University, is an international, scientific, peer-reviewed, and open-access journal that has been in continuous publication since 1995. Published four times a year, the journal provides an interdisciplinary academic platform for educational research by publishing original and high-quality peer-reviewed articles covering all aspects of educational sciences. The target audience includes all stakeholders in the field of education (practitioners, academics, instructors, students, and professional organizations). The journal directly addresses the various professional needs of researchers and educators across different educational levels (primary education, teacher education, etc.).

The journal publishes articles that aim to contribute to the advancement of educational practices and address challenges across all levels of education, from early childhood to postgraduate programs. Priority is given to manuscripts that are directly related to educational sciences and establish strong links with educational theory, policy, and practice. In this context, subject examples include articles demonstrating impact on educational research and applications-ranging from educational policies to curriculum, teacher education to teacher-student interactions, educational leadership to inclusive education, information technologies to environmental education, and instructional methods to learning environments.  The journal emphasizes that articles should possess the quality of original research, be theoretically informed, methodologically grounded (including detailed explanations of the methodology and methods used), and contribute to national and international debates. Research-based studies conducted within and outside the classroom, teacher education models that establish links with various teacher education programs, and articles focusing on pedagogical innovations in the professional development of teachers are welcomed.

The journal does not consider the following for evaluation:

  • Narrowly-scoped studies that largely replicate existing literature.
  • Non-systematic literature reviews or studies lacking a clear methodology.
  • Meta-analysis studies with limited sample sizes.
  • Empirical studies with insufficient sample size and/or inadequate analysis.
  • Studies where data is collected solely through metaphor identification forms.
  • Instrument development studies that do not establish a link with educational science or fail to include both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses.

The journal accepts original research articles that contribute to educational sciences, particularly in the following fields:

  • Computer Education and Instructional Technologies
  • Philosophical, Social, and Historical Foundations of Education
  • Measurement and Evaluation in Education
  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Educational Psychology
