Development of An Attitude Scale Towards Reading Scientific Texts For University Students: Validty and Reliability Study

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and reliable measure of university students’

attitudes towards reading scientific texts. This attitude scale developed by the researchers

includes 48 items in type of Likert of 5. This attitude scale was implemented in totally 251

students who studying at five different sections of a university education faculty located in

Ankara. The attitude scale which includes 30 items in type of Likert of 5 obtained the results of exploratory factor analysis was implemented in totally 371 students who studying at five

different sections of a university education faculty located in Ankara for confirmatory factor

analysis. It is concluded that the scale is a reliable and a valid tool for measuring the attitudes

of the university students towards reading scientific texts.
