Abstract
The purpose of this study is to introduce the children’s periodical called as Çocuk Haftası (Child Week) published by Tahsin Demiray and to examine this periodical from the point of children education. This research was carried out by document analysis technique method, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The documents of the research were 375 published volumes found in the Ankara National Library. All issues (374 ones) published between January 2, 1943 and February 25, 1950 and the publication dated October 30, 1942, which is numbered separately from the numbers of the magazines were examined in this research study. According to the results of the research, Tahsin Demiray, who was also the owner of Türkiye Basımevi (Turkey Press), determined Istanbul as the administrative center of the magazine and Turkey Press published the magazine. The articles within the periodicals were analyzed from the point of children education. It has been assigned that the content of the periodical is become intense in these categories called as “information on educational knowledge and children education, ethical values that children should have to and developing the reading culture and bringing the child in general knowledge”. Among these categories the category of “developing the reading culture and bringing the child in world knowledge” take more places. “Being patriotic, following rules, being respectful and honest, having the sense of responsibility, being helpful and sparing and obeying” are at the forefront among the ethical values that a child should have.
