Technology-Integrated Closed-loop Supply Chains and Sustainable Performance in Turkish Aviation Industry with Implications for Naval Aviation Arm
Abstract
The regular maintenance and upkeep of aviation platforms require uninterrupted supply of spares supportability in both civil as well as military setups. This study examines the impacts of technology-integrated closed-loop supply chains on three dimensions of sustainable supply chain performance i.e. financial, social, and environmental, based on triple bottom line framework. The data were collected from the professionals working in Turkish civil aviation and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) firms. A total of 163 filled questionnaires were analyzed using PLS-SEM through SmartPLS4.0 statistical software. The findings of study highlight the significant positive impact of technology-integrated closed-loop adoption practices on financial, social, environmental performance of firms working in Turkish aviation and MRO sector. The findings of this study carry clear implications for naval aviation supply chains where ensuring extended operational lifecycle of platforms, strict safety protocols, and operational readiness requirements make strong case for adoption of digital technologies enabled reverse supply chain systems to ensure operational, financial, social, and environmental benefits.
