AIM AND SCOPE
Karaman Medical Journal (Kar Med J) (ISSN: ….-…., e-ISSN: ….-….) is a scientific, independent, peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal published by Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University. Aimed at physicians, researchers, and scientists, the journal considers submissions from all fields of medical science and from all regions of the world. Kar Med J seeks to support the national and international dissemination of current advances in diagnosis and treatment, surgical innovations, and clinical and experimental research that contributes to scientific knowledge. The journal is published three times a year, in April, August, and December.
The publication scope of Kar Med J includes clinical and experimental research, editorials, short reports, clinical case reports, technical and educational reviews, articles on recent developments in medicine, original image reports, image-based disease identification questions, and letters to the editor. Brief reader questions and contributions concerning previously published articles and experimental studies may also be included. Submitted manuscripts must contain original data that have not been published previously and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Ethics committee approval is required for all studies and must be documented. Kar Med J follows the ‘Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing’ (doaj.org/bestpractice). Manuscripts that comply with the journal’s submission requirements and scope are sent to experts in the relevant field for scientific peer review. Publication decisions are based on the evaluations of at least two reviewers. When there is disagreement regarding the suitability of a manuscript, assistant editors consider the reviewers’ comments and add their own assessment to the process. The Editor-in-Chief has final authority over all submitted manuscripts. The journal aims to complete the editorial and publication processes within three months whenever possible; however, unforeseen delays may extend this period.
The Editorial Board of Kar Med J is committed to conducting the publication process in accordance with the principles and criteria set forth by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the Council of Science Editors (CSE), the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the National Information Standards Organization (NISO).
The full-text publication language of the articles is English.
The journal’s target readership comprises healthcare professionals across all fields, specialists, researchers, residents, doctoral students, and students in related disciplines. Kar Med J aims to support continuing professional development and contribute to the dissemination of a research culture.
Manuscript submission, evaluation, and publication processes at Kar Med J are free of charge. No processing or submission fee is charged for manuscripts submitted to or accepted for publication in the journal. In accordance with its publication policies, Kar Med J does not accept sponsorship or advertising. All expenses of the journal are covered by the Rectorate of Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University. Karman Medical Journal publishes clinical and experimental studies, editorial articles, clinical case reports, technical and educational reviews, original imaging reports, and letters to the editor that contribute to medical science and academic research. However, survey/interview studies will only be considered for evaluation if they provide a high-quality scientific contribution.
