Author Guidelines

To ensure prompt processing of submissions, articles must fully comply with the specified writing guidelines. The Editor and Editorial Advisory Board reserve the right to return articles that do not meet publication conditions to the author for revision, make formatting adjustments, or reject them.
1. General Rules


a) The main article file must not contain information such as author names or affiliations.


b) Articles submitted to the editor for publication, including references, tables, and figure captions, must be written with 1.5 line spacing, justified on both sides, on A4 paper, using 12-point “Times New Roman” font.


c) Abbreviations must be explained at their first mention, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses. Non-standard abbreviations should not be used.

d) Tables, figures, and images must be submitted in separate files, not embedded in the text.
Figures and images must be in JPEG format with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.

e) Captions for figures and tables must be written on a separate page after the references at the end of the text.


f) All figures and tables in the text must be referenced and numbered sequentially according to their order of appearance in the text.

g) Only online submissions are accepted.

2. Title Page
This page must include the article title, short title, authors’ names, and their affiliations. It must be uploaded as a separate document. The following information must be provided in order:
• Article title: Written in Turkish and English without any abbreviations and in a descriptive manner.
• Short title of the article: Must not exceed 50 characters.
• Full names and affiliations of all authors.
• ORCID numbers of all authors with international validity.
• Name, address, email address, phone, and fax number of the corresponding author.
• If applicable, the location and date of the scientific meeting where the study was presented must be included.
• If any financial support was received for the study, it must be specified.

Articles submitted to our journal must conform to one of the following publication types:


a. Scientific research article


b. Case report


c. Review article


d. Letter to the editor


a) Scientific Research Articles:
• Abstract: Must be prepared in Turkish and English. Each must be between 150 and 300 words. Unexplained abbreviations must not be used. No references should be cited. Abstracts for scientific research articles must include the following headings:
Purpose / Materials and Methods / Results / Conclusion
• Keywords: A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords must be provided, separated by commas (,).
• Introduction: The topic should be briefly explained. The purpose of the study should be stated with literature support.
• Materials and Methods: The study design, whether prospective or retrospective, selection and description of cases, technical information, statistical methods used, and the name, number, and date of the ethics committee approval must be specified.
• Results: Detailed results of the study must be provided. Statistical significance levels must be indicated.
• Discussion: Results should be discussed in comparison with the literature.
• Conclusion: A concise summary of the study’s results must be provided. The scientific significance of the study must be stated.
• Acknowledgments: An optional acknowledgment may be written for those who contributed to the research or article preparation.
• References: The number of references must not exceed 40.
• The entire text (including Turkish and English abstracts, excluding references) must not exceed 5,000 words.
b) Case Reports:
• Abstract: Turkish and English abstracts must not exceed 150 words.
• Keywords: A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords must be provided, separated by commas (,).
• Introduction
• Case Report: Patient identity information must be kept confidential, and an “Informed Consent” document must be obtained from patients. It must be stated in this section that informed consent was obtained from the participant.
• Discussion
• Acknowledgments
• References: Must not exceed 20.
• The entire text (including Turkish and English abstracts, excluding references) must not exceed 2,500 words.
c) Review Articles:
Prepared directly or by invited authors. Review articles may cover any topic in basic or clinical medical sciences and must thoroughly examine the literature. Review articles must include numerous national and international publications on the topic, with references to these publications in the article.
• Abstract: Must be prepared in Turkish and English. Each must be between 250 and 300 words.
• Keywords: A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords must be provided, separated by commas (,).
• Introduction: The topic should be briefly explained. The purpose of the study should be stated with literature support.
• Subheadings related to the topic.
• References: Must not exceed 60.
• The entire text (including Turkish and English abstracts, excluding references) must not exceed 5,000 words.
d) Letters to the Editor:
• “Letters to the Editor” discuss significant or overlooked aspects of a previously published article.
• They must not include abstracts, keywords, tables, figures, or images.
• The commented article must be appropriately referenced within the “Letter to the Editor.”
• The entire text (excluding references) must not exceed 700 words.
• References: Must not exceed 10.

• References must be numbered consecutively according to their first appearance in the text.
• References used must be indicated at the end of sentences, before the point, in square brackets with numbers.
• When citing two or more sources simultaneously, each source number must be separated by a comma, e.g., [1, 5] or [4, 7].
• When citing more than two consecutively numbered sources, a hyphen must be used instead of a comma, e.g., [4-6].
• For articles with three or fewer authors, all author names must be listed. For articles with more than three authors, the phrase “et al.” or “ve ark.” must be used after the third author. Abbreviations must comply with Index Medicus.
Reference Format for Journal Articles:
The surname(s) and initial(s) of the author(s), article title, journal name, year, volume, issue, page numbers must be specified.
