Abstract

THE EFFECT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES ON EMPLOYEE ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIOUR IN COMPANIES

Abstract

This study investigates the mediating roles of green motivation and green psychological climate in the relationship between green practices and employee green behavior in manufacturing firms. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to employees, aimed at understanding how the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices influences employee behavior towards sustainability. The results reveal that green motivation—employees’ intrinsic desire to engage in environmentally responsible actions—and a green psychological climate—employees' perception that their organization supports and values sustainability—both play significant mediating roles. Specifically, organizations that implement green practices not only foster a culture of environmental awareness but also enhance employees’ internal motivation to adopt green behaviors. These findings underscore the importance of integrating green initiatives with organizational culture and employee engagement strategies to effectively promote sustainable behavior within the workforce.
