Ethics Committee Approval

ETHICS COMMITTEE APPROVAL

In line with ULAKBİM TR INDEX 2020 criteria, the ethics committee approval must be obtained for (clinical and experimental) research on human and animals, including Social Sciences, and this approval must be documented and stated in the article. The name, date and number of the committee related to the approval of the ethical committee should be given in the method section of the article and on the first / last page of the article. 

The situations that require ethics committee approval are as follows:
1. In any kind of qualitative or quantitative research in which interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, questionnaire and interview techniques are used and data are collected accordingly,
2. If humans or animals are used for experimental and other scientific purposes,
3. In clinical studies on humans and animals,
4. In retrospective studies, in accordance with the law on protection of personal data. 

In case reports sent to the journal, it is important to include information that the voluntary consent form has been signed.

Studies Not Requiring Ethics Committee Approval

Ethics committee approval is not required in the following situations: 
  • In the studies conducted with data obtained before 2020 (the date of data collection should be given in the method section), 
  • In the studies obtained from master’s / doctoral studies whose data were collected before 2020 (should be indicated as a footnote), 
  • In the papers presented before 2020 (should be indicated as a footnote), 
  • In the studies submitted to the journal before 2020 and
  • In the review articles.
