Abstract

In this study, 1586 publications of different types related to migration and development concept in the fields of economics and sociology were examined bibliometrically in the SCI, SSCI and AHCI citation indexes through the Web of Science database in the period of 1980-2019, and this was followed by mapping of social network analysis and corporate, author, country collaborations. While the volumetric changes in the field were discussed for the purpose of evaluating the publications in the study, on the other hand, the developments in the field, the trends seen in the topics, the countries and institutions that made the most intense contribution to the field and the most cited ones in the field were visualized by use of VOSviewer program.
According to the results of the study, it is seen that the studies on migration and development in the field of sociology and economy, published in the citation indexes, have started to increase rapidly especially since 2006. This situation shows that migration and development issues, which have become politically intensified in recent years, are also discussed in academic studies. While the number of publications prepared in the field has developed rapidly over time, it can be stated that the studies have diversified in terms of their origin and moved away from Anglo-American influence. In this context, the increase in the number of studies has been effective in increasing the internationalization trend. Remittances, return migration and the effect of diaspora, which are the three main topics of the relationship between migration and development, are included both as a subject of study and in keyword cooperation.

Göç ve Kalkınma İlişkisine Yönelik Bir İnceleme: Web of Science Veri Tabanına Dayalı Bibliyometrik Ağ Analizi

Year 2020, Volume: 12 Issue: 23, 350 - 367, 28.12.2020
