The aim of the study is to analyze available research concerned with the difficulties surrounding the Teaching of Turkish as a foreign language and to reveal those difficulties that are present through further research. For these purposes, 81 essays digitized in Ulakbim Tr Dizin between the years of 2010-2020 along with 70 master theses and 12 doctoral theses published in the national thesis database between the years of 2018-2020. The study was designed using a qualitative approach. Data was gathered through document analysis method and analyzed through content analysis method. Based on the data gathered from the 81 essays, 70 master theses and 12 doctoral theses analyzed as part of the study, issues encountered during the teaching of Turkish to foreigners were determined. According to these determinations, the following issues were detected in the Turkish Education Degree Program; the inadequacy of courses in teaching Turkish to foreigners, deficiency in course materials, issues surrounding the teaching of grammar, failure to create a separate department for the teaching of Turkish to foreigners, issues stemming from the inadequacy of those engaged in the teaching process, method issues, program issue, deficiencies in research to determine the base vocabulary of Turkish, difficulties in creating homogeneous classrooms, attitude of students towards Turkish, alphabet issues, diction issues and issues encountered in the writing skills.
