15. Peripheral Osteoma of the Tongue

Konuralp Medical Journal (ISSN: 1309-3878) aims to publish articles related to primary care in general medicine, such as review articles, case reports, with pictures of a subject, letters to the editor, news and developments in the world of medicine and basic and clinical research. The articles should not be published anywhere else previously and should not be under review for publication in another journal. 

Konuralp Medical Journal is a publication of Düzce University School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. Our Journal was published in October 2009. Our Journal is planned to be published three times a year in March, June, and October, and the articles that are sent to our Journal will be evaluated by the "peer review" method. The scientific articles to be sent to the Konuralp Medical Journal should adhere to the World Health Organization’s Editors Board (http://www.icmje.org/) ("icmje_08.pdf" Turkish Translation ICMJE) common rules of the current version, which are necessary for articles submitted to biomedical journals.

Basic rules to be followed during the preparation of the article:

1. The language of the journal is English.
2. The articles sent to be published in our journal should not be published in any other journal, accepted for publication, or should not be in the evaluation stage to be published. The author(s) agree and undertake not to submit articles sent to this journal to another journal before the evaluation process is complete.
3. The editorial board reserves the right to reject articles that have not been uploaded in accordance with the journal's rules, or to return them to the author for editing in accordance with the editorial guidelines.
4. If any of the research results submitted to our journal for evaluation have been published or presented at a scientific platform, the name of the platform, the publication details (journal, etc.) and the date and location (city/country) of publication or presentation, along with the title, must be specified on the submission page.
5. The author(s) of the article are responsible for obtaining written permission from the owners and authors of any publication excerpts, tables or pictures sent to our journal for publication, and for stating this in the article. Legal responsibility in this matter belongs to the author (s).
6. The format of the articles should be arranged according to the rules of Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals: Writing and Editing for Biomedical Publication (http://www.icmje.org/).
7. All authors of the article must declare their scientific contributions and responsibilities, as well as any conflicts of interest. They should also disclose any financial or in-kind support received from researchers, institutions, organisations, or drug supply companies.
8. Scientific and ethical responsibility rests entirely with the author (s).
9. No fee is paid for the articles published in the journal.
10. All submitted articles are screened for plagiarism. Manuscripts with a plagiarism rate of 20% or more are returned to the author.
11. The corresponding author is responsible for following all procedures from the submission of the article onwards, including spelling, evaluation, revision, layout and final proofreading. She/he should respond to all emails and messages sent to them. She/he must also provide any missing or incorrect documents deemed necessary by the editorial board at any stage of the submission process.



Files that need to be uploaded to the system when submitting the article:

1) The Konuralp Medical Journal Publication Rights Transfer and Author Contribution Form must be signed by all authors and scanned as a PDF. (Wet signatures will be scanned and uploaded as PDF.)

3) Ethics Committee Approval Form
4) Title Page (WORD format)
Title page: Title of the article (in English and Turkish), short title not exceeding 40 characters, names of all authors, academic titles (in English), ORCID® numbers, institutions (in English) and email addresses, as well as the name of the corresponding author and her/his address, which must include a phone number and email address. If the article was previously presented at a scientific meeting, the name, date and place of the meeting should be specified (if not present).5) Main text file
In the main text file; the Turkish title, Turkish abstract, keywords, English title, English summary, keywords, Introduction, Method, Result, Discussion, Conclusion, References, Tables subtitles should be listed respectively. Abstract section should be listed as Objective, Method, Result, Conclusion and Keywords.
Figıres: Since all photographs, graphics and diagrams are accepted as figures, they must be uploaded to the system in their original size and resolution (300 dpi) as a JPEG file. Alternatively, they can be uploaded as a single PDF file. Figure numbers must be indicated in the text using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, etc.). Figure captions should be included in the main text file immediately after the references, together with the figure numbers.

SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITY
In terms of scientific publishing standards, articles to be submitted should be prepared in accordance with the criteria of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
• All articles must comply with research and publication ethics. The authors are responsible for their articles.• Articles must not have been published anywhere previously and must not be under evaluation for publication elsewhere..
• Articles must be submitted with a signed Copyright Transfer Form from all authors to begin the evaluation process. The signature order on the Copyright Transfer Form is used to determine the order of authors.• The corresponding author is responsible for the final version of the article on behalf of all authors.

ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY
• Compliance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki (https://www.wma.net/what-we-do/medical-ethics/declaration-of-helsinki/) is required in all studies involving a "human" factor. In these studies, the authors must state in the 'Materials and Methods' section that they performed the study in compliance with these principles and obtained approval from the ethics committee of their institution and informed consent from the participants• If animals were used in the study, the authors must state that they protected animal rights in line with the principles of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/olaw/guide-for-the-care-and-use-of-laboratory-animals.pdf), and that they obtained approval from their institution's ethics committee in the 'Materials and Methods' section..• In case reports, informed consent must be taken from patients.
• Information on ethics committee approval should be provided alongside the name of the committee, the approval date and the approval number in the 'Materials and Methods' section.
• If there is a direct or indirect commercial relationship or an institution providing financial support for the study, the authors must state in the cover letter to the editor that they have no commercial relationship with the commercial product, medicine, company, etc. used, or, if applicable, what kind of relationship they have (e.g. consultant, other agreements).
• Authors are responsible for reporting all personal and financial relationships that may be related to the study. Any conflicts of interest related to the submission and/or evaluation of the article must be stated clearly.
• Compliance with scientific and ethical rules is the responsibility of the authors.


WRITING RULES

• Author(s) are obliged to abide by English grammar rules and the journal's spelling conventions when submitting articles to the Konuralp Medical Journal.
Articles should be prepared as Microsoft Word® documents. They should be written in 12-point black font with 1.5 line spacing and justified text, without paragraph indentation. All pages of the main text of the article should be numbered in the bottom right-hand corner, starting with 1.
• The article should be written in accordance with the English spelling and punctuation rules. Anatomical terms should be used as written in Latin. Any terms written in a language other than English must be quoted in quotation marks.. Abbreviations should be given in parentheses where the word goes first, and that abbreviation should be used throughout the text.

1. Title page file

• The title page should be prepared separately from the article and uploaded to the system as such. Due to the practice of blind refereeing, the main text should not contain any information that could reveal the authors' or institutions' identities, such as the names of institutions and organisations. Such information cannot be included in the main text and is therefore included on the title page.



In general, the following sections should be included on the title page:
- Title of the article
The first letters of each word should be written in capital letters (except for conjunctions). No abbreviations should be used in the title, except in accepted standard usage.
• Authors: Only authors who have directly contributed to the study should be included in the article. The names and surnames of all authors, their ORCID numbers and the cities they are affiliated with should be stated. The contact information of the author to be contacted should be provided. (Author's name, surname, full address, work and/or mobile phone number, email address).
• Funding: The title page must state which funds and institutions are supporting the study. If the study is to be presented at a congress, or has been presented as a poster or oral presentation, the name, date and place of the congress must be stated.
• Acknowledgements: When the author(s) deems it necessary, they can express their gratitude to the institutions or individuals whose contributions to the writing do not reach the level of authorship. The contributions of the institutions/persons thanked (e.g. monetary or equipment support, technical assistance) should be clearly stated (e.g. 'scientific advice', 'draft correction', 'data collection', 'participation in clinical research').
2. Main text file
• It should contain the following titles in the order given.
Abstract section should consist of Objective, Method, Results, Conclusion and Keywords subtitles.
The keywords section should contain keywords selected from the Turkish Science Terminology database. Authors can use the website http://www.bilimtercesi.com, which is particularly recommended by the editors of our journal.The Introduction should give a brief summary of the main points and reasons for the article, and the purpose should be clearly stated in the last paragraph..
The Methods section should be organised into subheadings such as research/patient/subject group, tools, application, and statistical evaluation if necessary. This section should be written in a way that can be easily understood by someone not involved in the study.
In the Results section, the main findings should be presented in full, together with the relevant statistical data. These findings should be visually supported by appropriate tables, graphs, and figures
In the discussion section, the study's findings should be discussed with the results of other relevant studies in mind. It should not be a general review, but should focus on the specific findings..
In the conclusion section the results should be summarised and explained in relation to the discussions.
References
The reference article's full and correct information must be included. Only the most important resources should be used, and resources that help with the study should be included.Reference writing styles and examples should be as follows;

Tables file
Each table should have a title and be included in the main text file after the References section. The table number and title should be located just above the table (it should be written separately for each table). The name of the table should be written in a sentence format with the first letter of the first word capital.
If a previously printed table is used, written permission must be obtained and this permission must be stated in the explanation section.
Figures
As the figures, photographs, graphics and diagrams are all considered to be figures, they must be uploaded to the system in its original size, at 300 dpi resolution (images must have contrast and clarity so that colors and details are visible) and uploaded in PDF format. Figure numbers should be indicated with Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3 ...) in the text. Figure legends should be included in the main text file immediately after the references, along with the figure numbers.

ARTICLE TYPES AND FEATURES
The types of articles to be sent to our journal should be in the following categories and must be prepared with the specified specifications.

1. Research Article
• Research articles, prospective and retrospective studies, and all kinds of experimental studies. The text word count (excluding references and tables) must not exceed 3,500 words.
• Abstract; It should be arranged to be at least 200 and at most 250 words.

2. Review
• Review articles should be prepared by discussing the latest literature in health (especially publications of the last 5 years). In the acceptance of the reviews, it is particularly preferable for the author to have publications on the subject. The text should not exceed 4500 words (excluding references and tables).
• Abstract; It should be arranged to have a minimum of 250 and a maximum of 300 words.
• Number of references should be 50 at most.

3. Case Report
• Case reports are articles that discuss the characteristics of one or more cases of clinical importance and scientific significance. These are rare cases that differ in diagnosis and treatment. It should be supported by a sufficient number of photographs and diagrams. Text word count (excluding references and tables) should be maximum 1500 words and this number should not be exceeded. • Abstract;. The word count must be at least 100 and no more than 150.

4. Letter to the Editor
• These articles contain readers' opinions, experiences and questions about the articles published in the journal last year. It is essential to clearly identify which article is dedicated to the article by providing the relevant number and date. The answers given by the author (s) of the article, which have been criticized as much as possible, are published together with. There are no title and summary sections.

• The articles to be submitted must comply with research and publication ethics. The responsibility of the articles belongs to their authors.
• Articles should not have been published anywhere before and / or should not be in the evaluation process for publication.
• In order for the evaluation process to begin, the articles must be submitted with the Copyright Transfer Form signed by all authors. For author ranking, the signature order in the Copyright Transfer Form is taken into consideration.
• Corresponding author bears the responsibility of the final version of the article on behalf of all authors.


ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY
• Compliance with the Helsinki Declaration Principles (https://www.wma.net/what-we-do/medical-ethics/declaration-of-helsinki/) is sought in all studies involving the element of "Human". In such studies, the authors should state that they carried out the study in accordance with these principles in the MATERIAL AND METHODS section, and that they received approval from the ethics committees of their institutions and "informed consent" from the people who participated in the study.
• If the item "Animal" is used in the study, the authors should be informed in the MATERIAL AND METHODS section of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/olaw/guide-for-the-care-and-use- of-laboratory-animals.pdf), they should state that they protect animal rights in their work and that they get approval from the ethics committees of their institutions.
• In case presentations, "informed consent" should be obtained from the patients.
• Ethics committee approval information should be stated in the MATERIAL and METHODS section, together with the name, approval date and number of the committee.
• If there is a direct-indirect commercial connection or financial support institution in the study, the authors; used commercial product, drug, company, etc. They should indicate to the editor on the presentation page that they have no commercial relationship with or what kind of relationship (consultant, other agreements) they have.
• Authors are responsible for reporting all personal and financial relationships related to the study. It must be clearly declared whether there is any conflict of interest associated with the application and / or evaluation of the article.
• The authors are responsible for the compliance of the articles with scientific and ethical rules.

Similarity Rate Information Note:

All articles submitted for evaluation in our journal must have a similarity report obtained from intihal.net.  The similarity report rate must be at most 20% excluding references.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers:

Reviewers are responsible for not evaluating the article and reporting any conflict of interest or relationship with the study and/or authors.
Reviewers must keep the work they receive confidential and cannot use the information they obtain from the reviewing process for their personal benefit.
Reviewers keep confidential all processes from the acceptance stage of the article to the publication process, and they cannot use or share the information and documents obtained.
Reviewers are responsible for reporting any unethical situations related to the study to the editor.
Personal criticisms of the authors should not be made, and evaluations should avoid individual feelings and thoughts and should use an impartial, honest, kind and constructive language, taking into account scientific principles and fundamentals.
During the article reviewing process, reviewers must take care to ensure that the personal information of the authors (gender, nationality, religious beliefs, political views, etc.) does not affect the scientific evaluation and they must be aware that they are legally responsible for the situation.

Ethical Responsibilities of Publisher, Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board

They act with the following ethical awareness:
• Editors are responsible for the entire process of manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine Research. Editors make decisions independently of economic or political interests.
• The publisher commits to ensuring independent editorial decisions.
• The publisher is responsible for protecting the intellectual property rights of all articles published in the journal and keeping records of unpublished articles.
• The publisher is responsible for taking necessary measures against scientific misconduct, fraud, and plagiarism.

Evaluation and publication of the articles are free of charges.
