Abstract

Systematic literature review, which basically includes the investigation, analysis and synthesis of previous studies on a particular subject, is recognised as a useful research method that could make significant contributions to the literature and practitioners through enabling a holistic and critical perspective on the subject. Using this method, the present study aims to synthesise faculty members’ organisational justice perception and its relation to several other organisational variables through the analysis of previous studies conducted on justice perceptions of faculty members in Turkish universities in the last two decades. Organisation justice is defined as the beliefs and perceptions of employees regarding how fairly they were treated in the workplace. Organisation justice explains many positive-negative behavioural outcomes that is vital for the organisation, and is considered to be especially significant for organisations employing highly-educated workforce like faculty members. Although studies that investigate faculty members’ justice perception in Turkish higher education context exist, there is a lack of studies that systematically analyses draws a holistic picture of the concept. The present study, which was conducted to address this void, included 23 studies that investigated faculty members’ justice perception as a dependent, an independent and/or a mediating variable and were published in peer-reviewed journals between 2000-2020 were included in the study. In particular, the level of faculty members’ justice perception, its relationship with demographic variables as well as other variables that could predict or were influenced by their justice perceptions were analysed in the light of the previous findings. Based on this analysis, a broad picture of the existing evidence was drawn and conclusions were generated on the gaps and uncertainties regarding the existing research on faculty members’ justice perception in Turkey. Implications were also made for future studies in this regard. in particular. Methods and methods of the study and data collection tools should be mentioned.

Year 2021, Volume: 4 Issue: 1, 43 - 61, 31.05.2021
https://doi.org/10.33400/kuje.894719
