Writing Rules

Preparation of Manuscripts


Authors are kindly asked to read the Author Guidelines and then use the suitable to format their manuscripts. For articles, authors are kindly asked to use Article Template. In addition to Turkish, English, Italian and Hindi manuscripts are also accepted for the journal. Ethics Committee Permission is required for articles (requiring ethics committee approval) to be sent for publication in the Social Sciences in Theory and Practice. Manuscripts to be sent to the journal should be placed in the Article Template and prepared according to the following rules.



The manuscript, including abstract, figure captions, tables, etc. should be typed on A4-size paper and the pages numbered consecutively. Manuscripts should be in Microsoft Word format. Text should be set in Times New Roman font; 11 point in size with 1.15 line spacing; range; 0nk first, then 6nk. Margins should be 2.5 cm all around. The text length (including titles, abstract, text, tables, references) should not exceed 10,000 words limit.

The title should be brief (max. 15 words), followed by the author(s) name(s), affiliation(s)
(Department and University), and an e-mail address for the corresponding author.

An abstract in English (approximately 200 words) must be provided, followed by up to 10 keywords, presented alphabetically.

The text of the article should be divided into unnumbered sections (e.g. Introduction, Background, Literature, Theoretical/Conceptual Framework, Method, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References, Appendix, in that order). Secondary headings may be used for further subdivision. Footnotes, if any, will be changed to endnotes.

Authors must observe publishing conventions and should not use terminology that can be construed as sexist or racist.

Figures should be clear on separate pages — not embedded / endnote in the text. Grey or coloured shading must NOT be used. Tables or figures should be numbered consecutively, with a brief descriptive heading /caption. Information should not be duplicated in text and tables.

Extended Abstract

Articles to be published in our Journal starting from 2023 should include an English extended abstract of at least 750 and maximum 1250 words. The broad extended abstract section should be placed after the references section. The extended abstract should include Introduction, Method, Conclusion and Discussion headings.


After the evaluation process, the accepted articles are arranged in accordance with the writing rules and sent through the system with a similarity / plagiarism report to be published. The similarity rate in the plagiarism report should not exceed 25%, including the references. Journal of Social Sciences : Theory & Practice has adopted the Open Access policy.
