Praxeology as an Action Ontology in Ludwig von Mises’ Thought

In this study, Mises’ (1881-1973) concept of praxeology (science of human action) is examined. According to Mises, a human can only be defined as an action being. Because the fact of action itself corresponds to the sphere of meaning which is created by human will and preferences on a certain level of rationality. In this way, without action, one loses the possibility of self-realization in all the contexts. The concept of praxeology developed by Mises in this direction does not represent a historical situation since it corresponds to a theoretical and systematic science. Praxeology treats the action formally by parenthesizing all the elements of the content and positions it in a fixed and constant plane. In this way, action is defined purely formally over universal categories, while content is considered open to all kinds of contingency, and integrity is achieved between identity and being. Accordingly, any person is considered to have the power to act freely on certain categories. The main argument of this study is that Mises’ concept of praxeology corresponds to a liberating ontology that eliminates the dichotomy between form and content, identity and difference.

Çalışmada Mises’in praksiyoloji kavramı incelenmiştir. Mises’e göre insana yönelik yapılacak temel tanım onun eylemde bulunan bir varlık olması üzerinedir. Çünkü bizatihi eylem olgusunun kendisi, insanın irade ve tercihleri üzerinden belli bir rasyonel düzlemde oluşturduğu anlam evrenine karşılık gelir. Eylem olmaksızın insan tüm bağlamlardan azade bir halde kendisini gerçekleştirme olanağını yitirir. Mises’in geliştirdiği praksiyoloji kavramı, teorik ve sistematik bir bilime karşılık gelmesinden dolayı tarihsel boyutu haiz değildir. Praksiyoloji, içeriğe dair unsurların bütününü paranteze almak suretiyle eylemi biçimsel olarak incelemeye tabi tutar ve onu sabit ve değişmez bir düzlemde konumlandırır. Eylem bu doğrultuda, salt biçimsel olarak evrensel kategoriler üzerinden tanımlanırken; içerik, her türlü olumsallığa açık olarak kabul edilir ve eylem bağlamında özdeşlik ile oluş biraraya getirilir. Herhangi bir insan belli kategoriler üzerinden özgürce eylem yapabilme kudretine sahip olarak kabul edilir. Mises’in praksiyoloji kavramının biçim ve içerik, özdeşlik ile fark arasındaki dikotomiyi ortadan kaldıran özgürleştirici bir ontolojiye karşılık geldiği ortaya koyulacaktır.
