The Investigation of High School Students Learning Styles In Terms Of Certain Variables
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between high schools students' learning styles and some variables such as gender, playing computer games and type of high school. The method of this study was correlational research. In this context, 2295 students in 3 different provinces and 4 different type of high school participated in this study. Purposive sampling method was used to determine of participation. 892 (38.9%) of the participants were female and 1,402 (61.1%) were male. The Kolb Learning style inventory which was developed by Kolb in 1984 and translated in to Turkish by Aşkar and Akkoyunlu (1993) was administered in this study. Chi-squared test was used to analyze obtained data. According to the results, more than half of surveyed high school students learning style were diverger. Besides, there are statistically significant differences between not only gender and learning styles but also type of school and learning styles. However, the relationship between students' learning style and their most played computer game type were not significant.
