Abstract

Abstract

In a world that is constantly changing and evolving, it is inevitable that the education and teaching systems, which significantly influence individuals' cognitive and social development, also undergo changes and developments. These changes and developments also affect the educational practices used in higher education. Within this context, the aim of the study is to create a comparison between the opinions of students enrolled in higher education institutions regarding traditional education and distance education practices. In this study, a qualitative research method (case study) was employed, which is one of the survey models. This method was chosen because it allows for in-depth data collection about a current and limited situation. The study sample consisted of 40 students who are enrolled in Atatürk University, where both distance education and traditional education practices are implemented simultaneously. As a result of the study, it was found that traditional education is perceived as more usable due to its interactive nature compared to distance education. Traditional education was seen as providing more efficient education and better opportunities for preparing students for their professions, especially because it allows for the delivery of practical courses. Under the recommendations section, suggestions were made for updating studies conducted with other stakeholders in the rapidly evolving field of distance education. Additionally, it was proposed that comparative studies based on the opinions of students and teachers, which would contribute to the improvement of distance education, should be conducted.
