BİLDİRİŞİM SÜRECİNDE “BEKLENTİ”NİN ROLÜ: “ESTAĞFURULLAH” ÇIKMAZI

Abstract

Günlük kullanımda sıradan bir bildirişimin büyük oranda başarıyla gerçekleştiği bilinse de başarısız örneklerle de karşılaşılmaktadır. R. Jakobson’un şablonu temel alındığında alıcı, verici, bildiri, kod, kanal ve bağlam bileşenlerindeki olası aksaklıkların bu tür sorunlara yol açtığı genel kabuldür. Bu çalışmada bir bildirişimin başarılı ya da başarısız olmasında rol oynadığını düşündüğümüz beklenti kavramının genel/sıradan bildirişim açıklamalarında ve özel bağlamlarda oluşan sıra dışı bildirişim süreçlerinin açıklamalarındaki yeri araştırılmaktadır. Edimbilimsel bakış açısının bildirişime katkılarından biri, bildirişimin sadece kodlama ve kod çözme işleminden ibaret olmadığı, konuşur ve dinleyici arasında gerçekleşen bir çıkarım sürecinin var olduğunu ortaya koymuş olmasıdır. Bu bakış açısı konuşurun yanında dinleyiciyi de aktif bir şekilde bildirişimde temsil etmektedir. Bu nedenle beklenti gibi dinleyicinin aktif olduğu bir durumda edimbilimsel yöntemler (Bildirişimsel Sezdirim Kuramı ve Bağıntı Kuramı) kullanılarak konuşur ve dinleyicinin bu süreçteki rollerini ayrı ayrı değerlendirebilmek amaçlanmıştır. Beklentinin bildirişimdeki yeri araştırılırken bunun genel ve özel bağlamlarda ayrı şekillerde işlediği görülmüştür. Genel bir bildirişim için sıradan, varsayımsal örnekler oluşturulmuş; özel bağlamdaki yeri için “estağfurulah” kalıp sözüne odaklanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak bildirişimin başarılı bir şekilde gerçekleştirilebilmesi için beklenti unsurunun konuşur ve dinleyici tarafından gözetilmesinin bir zorunluluk olduğu tespit edilmiş; dinleyicinin, konuşurun kast edimine ulaşma sürecindeki başarısızlığı ve yine dinleyicinin, konuşurun beklentisiyle ilgili varsayımlarının belirsizliğinin, onu bildirişimsel bir çıkmaza soktuğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The Role of Expectation in the Communication Process: The Estağfurullah Dilemma

Abstract

Although it is widely known that ordinary communication in daily use largely occurs successfully, there are also instances of failure. According to R. Jakobson's model, it is generally accepted that potential failures in the elements of the receiver, sender, message, code, channel, and context lead to such issues. This study investigates the role of the concept of expectation, which is thought to influence whether a communication is successful or not, in both general/ordinary communication explanations and in the explanations of exceptional communication processes that arise in specific contexts. One of the contributions of the pragmatics perspective to communication is that it has demonstrated that communication is not merely a process of encoding and decoding, but also involves an inference process that occurs between the speaker and the listener. This perspective highlights the active role of the listener alongside the speaker in communication. Therefore, with the aim of separately evaluating the roles of the speaker and the listener in this process, it is intended to use pragmatic methods (such as Implicature Theory and Relevance Theory) in situations where the listener is active, such as with the concept of expectation. When examining the role of expectation in communication, it has been observed that it functions differently in general and specific contexts. For general communication, ordinary hypothetical examples have been created, while for the specific context, the focus has been on the phrase "estağfurulah." As a result, it has been determined that for communication to be successfully achieved, it is essential for both the speaker and the listener to consider the element of expectation. It has been concluded that the listener's failure to reach the speaker's intended meaning and the uncertainty regarding the listener's assumptions about the speaker's expectations can lead to a communicative impasse.
