THE EFFECT OF WORKPLACE OSTRACISM ON WORKPLACE DEVIANT BEHAVIORS: A STUDY ON TOURISM ORGANIZATIONS' EMPLOYEES

Abstract

In this study, the effect of workplace ostracism perception on workplace deviant behaviors is investigated. In order to achieve this purpose, data from 283 people were collected by using questionnaire method among quantitative research techniques. The sample of the study was composed of blue-collars employees working in five-star hotels in Antalya province. By the means of the offered structural model, the effects of the perception of workplace ostracism on workplace deviant behaviors were investigated. The results show that hotel employees’ perception of workplace ostracism positively and significantly affected theirs workplace deviant behaviors. The results obtained in the study were discussed in specific of the tourism sector’s employees. Suggestions were presented for both applicants and future studies.

İŞ YERİNDE DIŞLANMANIN İŞ YERİ SAPKIN DAVRANIŞLARA ETKİSİ: TURİZM İŞLETMELERİ ÇALIŞANLARI ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, iş yerinde dışlanma algısının iş yeri sapkın davranışlar üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmaktadır. Bu amacı karşılamak için nicel araştırma tekniklerinden anket yöntemi kullanılarak 283 kişiden veriler toplanmıştır. Çalışmanın katılımcılarını, Antalya ilinde yer alan 5 yıldızlı otellerdeki mavi yakalı çalışanlar oluşturmuştur. Kurulan yapısal model vasıtasıyla iş yerinde dışlanma algısının iş yeri sapkın davranışlara olan etkisi araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, iş yerinde dışlanma algısının iş yeri sapkın davranışlar üzerindeki etkisinin pozitif yönlü ve anlamlı olarak etkilediğini açığa çıkarmıştır. Çalışmanın ulaştığı sonuçlar turizm sektörü çalışanları özelinde tartışılmıştır. Uygulayıcılara ve gelecek çalışmalara yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.
