Aim & Scope
MJES, as the first periodic journal regarding the “European Integration Process” in Turkey, aims to present the studies of domestic and foreign researchers on economics, law, international relations and political science under European Union perspective.
Articles published in these series represent solely the views of the authors. The articles published in the journal may only be reproduced under educational reasons. The articles, figures and tables cannot be reproduced partially or completely and also cannot be archived in a specific system without permission. Citations are allowed only after indicating in academic publications as references. Any publication, reproduction and/or sales for profityielding aims are legally punished under the Law of Intellectual Property Rights No. 5846. Articles previously published in any other journal, book, or similar resources are not accepted for publication.
Author Guidelines
Page Setup: A4
Word Count:
-Minimum 6500, maximum 9000 words, including footnotes and references; without the abstract. The editorial board holds the right to accept longer manuscripts if it finds appropriate.
-The abstract should be 250 words, maximum.
-Word count for tables and figures will be determined according to their space: half page will be regarded as 250 words; regardless of the word count when the table is removed.
-Manuscripts less than 3000 words will be considered for publication as Commentary, if found appropriate by the editorial board.
-Case reviews should not be more than 3000 words. Case reviews will be subjected to peer review. -Book reviews should not exceed 2000 words. They will be published upon decision by the editorial board.

- Cited paragraphs should be indented 1 cm in both sides.
Fonts
- Font: Times New Roman (12)
- Cited paragraph: Times New Roman (10)
- Bold fonts should only be used in the title and subtitles.
- CAPS LOCK should only be used in the title of the paper.
- Numbering should not be used in subtitles.
- Subtitles should be in the following format (the first letters of all words in the subtitles should be capital letters):

Citations
-Bibliographical references must be cited using the author-date system, with page numbers where necessary. For example: (Cini, 2000) and (Cini, 2000: 21).
-References must be listed alphabetically at the end of the article (interviews should be listed separately at the end of the references as shown below).
-The authors should make sure that all references are complete (including recurring author names) and must appear in the text (and vice versa). For examples of the bibliographical references see below.
-If author name is not available: (Article Title, year: pages)
Footnotes
-Must be single-spaced (10pt), numbered consecutively, and must not be used for references. -Ideally, footnotes should not be too long and their number should be kept to a minimum.
-The authors should not use any endnotes.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Marmara Avrupa Araştırmaları Dergisi yılda iki kez, Haziran ve Aralık aylarında Türkçe ve İngilizce yayın yapan kapalı çift hakem sürecine tabi uluslararası bir dergidir.
Yayın Hedefleri
Türkiye'de "Avrupa Bütünleşme Süreci" ne yönelik çıkarılmış ilk süreli dergi olan Marmara Avrupa Araştırmaları Dergisi’nin amacı, konusunda uzman yerli ve yabancı araştırmacıların hukuk, iktisat, uluslararası ilişkiler ve siyaset bilimi çalışmalarını Avrupa Birliği perspektifinde sunmaktır.
Yayın İlkeleri
Dergide yayınlanan makalelerdeki görüşler yazarına aittir. Dergide yayınlanan akademik makaleler sadece eğitim amaçlı olarak çoğaltılabilir. Yayımlanan yazılar, grafik ve tablolar izin olmadan kısmen veya tamamen çoğaltılamaz ve belli bir sistemde arşivlenemez. Akademik yayınlarda kaynak gösterilmek şartı ile alıntı yapılabilir. Gelir elde etmek amacı ile yapılan basım, çoğaltma ve/veya satışlar 5846 sayılı FİSEK hükümleri uyarınca hukuki yaptırıma tabi tutulacaktır. Daha önce başka bir dergide, kitapta vb. bir kaynakta yayınlanan makaleler kabul edilmemektedir. Ulusal veya uluslararası konferans, seminer ve panellerde sunulan bildiriler makale formatına dönüştürüldükten sonra yayın sürecine alınabilir.
Hakem Sürecinin İşleyişi
1- MJES’e gönderilen makaleler, hakem sürecine girmeden evvel editör kurulumuz tarafından ön incelemeye tabi tutulup ‘hakem sürecine girebilir’ onayı alındıktan sonra, alanında uzman ulusal veya uluslararası iki hakeme gönderilir.
2- İki hakemden de ‘yayınlanabilir raporu’ alan makaleler bir sonraki sayı için ‘yayınlanacaklar listesi’ ne alınır.
3- Hakemlerden bir olumlu bir olumsuz yanıt gelmesi sonucunda, makalenin yayımlanması Editörün yetkisindedir.
4- Hakemlerden iki ret kararı gelmesi durumunda hakem raporları yazara ‘yayımlanamaz kararı’ ile iletilir.
5- Hakemlerden ‘düzeltme kararı’ gelmesi durumunda hakem raporu ile birlikte makaleler yazara iletilir ve gerekli düzeltmelerin yapılması için 2 (iki) aylık süre tanınır. Düzeltmesi yapılan makale tekrardan aynı hakeme gönderilir ve ‘yayınlanabilir raporu’ alan makale bir sonraki sayı için ‘yayınlanacaklar listesi’ ne alınır.

Dr. Fatmanur Kaçar Aşcı is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University, where she also serves as Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations. She received her BA (2007), MA (2012), and PhD (2021) from Marmara University, completing her graduate studies at the Institute of European Studies, and conducted doctoral fieldwork in Germany in 2018.
Her research focuses on European politics, right-wing populism, and political communication, with particular emphasis on the multimodal and discursive evolution of populist styles in Europe, as well as the political dimensions of Türkiye–EU relations. She employs qualitative and mixed-methods approaches, integrating critical discourse analysis, multimodal analysis, and CAQDAS-based methodologies. Her work has been published in Palgrave Macmillan, Lexington Books, and Springer, as well as in peer-reviewed international journals. She is an active member of two COST Action Working Groups, contributing to collaborative and interdisciplinary research on European politics.

Advisory Board
Zuhal Mert Uzuner is a professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Marmara University. She teaches Introduction to International Relations and Seminar on Southeast Europe, International Organizations, EU-Turkey Relations, and Greek-Turkish Relations. Uzuner studies foreign policy analysis, Greek foreign policy, Turkish foreign policy, Balkan and Mediterranean politics, and Greek-Turkish relations. She has a B.A., M.A., and PhD degrees from Marmara University International Relations and an M.A. from Southeast European Studies at Democritus University of Thrace, Law School, Greece. She knows English and Greek and has written several articles, books, and papers in Turkish and English. She is the author of Anapofeuktoi Sintrofoi o Ellino Italikos Polemos ston Tourkiko Tipo Oktovrios Dekemvrios 1940 (published by Epikentro in 2016) and editor of Role of Image in Greek Turkish Relations (published in 2018 by Peter Lang). Zuhal Mert Uzuner, who has been the Director of MURCIR (Marmara University International Relations Research Center) since 2023, also participates in Track II diplomacy initiatives and has been a member of the Eastern Mediterranean Initiative since 2021 and the Turkish Greek Forum since 2022.
Prof. Dr. İlke Göçmen is the Head of the Department of EU Law at Ankara University Law Faculty. Previously, he served as the Director of the EU Research Centre and as the Editor of the Ankara Review of European Studies.
He has been a visiting post-doctoral researcher at Leiden University’s Europa Institute and a visiting professor at Saarland University’s Europa-Institut.
He has extensive experience in research and publication in EU law, encompassing both its institutional and substantive aspects, as well as the legal dimension of EU-Türkiye relations.
He holds a Jean Monnet Chair (2019-2022) with his project titled Legal Issues in Turkey–European Union Relations.
His book Foundations of European Union Law was awarded the Jury Special Prize under the TÜBA–TESEP Scientific Authorship Program in 2025 by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA).
