The Approaches of the Prospective Teachers of the Turkish Language to Teaching Profession

Abstract

This research has been carried out in order to determine the approaches of prospective teachers of Turkish language to teaching profession. It has been done over the students of The Turkish Language Teaching Department of Atatürk Faculty of Education of Marmara University. To evaluate all the data gathered from 310 prospective teachers, Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U Tests have been used. It can be said that the agents of the experiments are mostly between the 18 and 21 ages and that nearly half of them are graduates of Anatolian High Schools of Teaching. In addition, they share the same rate of delivery in terms of gender. The data gained through this research are evaluated in respect to the approaches of the prospective teachers of Turkish language to teaching profession and their relations with different kinds of variables. This research has proved that Turkish prospective teachers have considered teaching profession very positively and that those who had preferred this profession as the first alternative regard it as their ideal and also that female students find teaching profession as the most appropriate one for them.

TÜRKÇE ÖĞRETMENİ ADAYLARININ ÖĞRETMENLİK MESLEĞİNE İLİŞKİN TUTUMLARI

Abstract

Bu araştırma, Türkçe öğretmeni adaylarının öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Marmara Üniversitesi Atatürk Eğitim Fakültesi Türkçe Öğretmenliği Bölümünde öğrenim gören 310 Türkçe öğretmeni adayından edilen verilerin çözümlenmesinde Kruskal Wallis Testi ve Mann Whitney U Testleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılanların büyük bir kısmının 18-21 yaş aralığında toplandığı, yarıya yakınının Anadolu Öğretmen Lisesi mezunu olduğu ve cinsiyet açısından eşit dağılım sergilediği görülmüştür. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler, Türkçe öğretmeni adaylarının öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin tutumlarının çeşitli değişkenlerle ilgisi açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda Türkçe öğretmeni adaylarının öğretmenlik mesleğine karşı olumlu tutum geliştirdikleri, öğretmenliği birinci sırada tercih edenlerin bu mesleği ideallerindeki meslek olarak gördüğü ve kız öğrencilerin öğretmenliği daha çok bir bayan mesleği olarak algıladığı belirlenmiştir. ÖSS öncesi adaylara, lise veya dershane rehberlik servisleri tarafından öğretmenlik mesleği tutum ölçeği uygulanarak bilinçli yönlendirmelerin yapılması gibi birtakım öneriler getirilmiştir.
