Academics
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate job satisfaction of academics working at state universities in Ankara. Although several studies have examined the job satisfaction of academics, little is known about academics’ job satisfaction which is adapted in the context of the two-factor theory of Herzberg. Study group was consist of 203 academics. The Job Satisfaction Scale for Academics (JSSA) developed by Kelecioğlu, Bilge and Akman (2005) and the Personal Information Form were administered. The results showed that factors such as age, seniority, academic experience abroad, status, and work experience had a positive
relationship with intrinsic satisfaction. On the other hand, academics in the fields of science and engineering reported higher extrinsic satisfaction than those in areas of social sciences.Key words: Academics, academic status, job satisfaction, position,
