The Validity and Reliability Study of the Turkish Version of the Academic Delay of Gratification Scale
Abstract
The aim of this study is evaluating the validity and reliability of academic delay of gratification scale developed by Bembenutty and Karabenick in 1998 for the conditions in Turkey. Sample of study consist of 432 university student. Results of language equivalence indicated that the correlation between Turkish and English forms of the ADOG scale was quite high (r=.87). As a result of factor analysis there is only one factor. Internal consistency of the scale was .79 and test retest reliability coefficient was .73. The item-total correlations ranged from .464 to .670, and item-reminder correlations ranged from .323 to .558. According to these findings, academic delay of gratification scale, is a valid and reliable instrument that can be used on university students.
