Evaluation of the Ministry of National Education Preschool Education Programme through Neurodevelopmental Perspective
Abstract
Education is one of the most important facts that add values and meanings to human life. Only by educational programmes it is possible for education to produce results
in line with the ideals of society. In short, the scope and content of education (that can be defined as behaviour change) are defined by programmes and by this way the behaviour and qualities to be acquired by the children are concretized. Education programmes, require the contributions of the experts in different fields, in each phase; from the planning phase to practice and evaluation phases. After the development phase, the programmes are constantly updated according to the practice results and the needs of the society. In recent years, especially the research and the findings on the brain have deeply influenced the approaches to child development and behaviour. The growing information needs to be transmitted to the education platforms. Therefore, the Early Childhood Education Programmes in Turkey, which has been developed for the children of 3-6 years, should be
updated by the recent developments and information. This study, especially by revealing the relationship between the early childhood education programme and the anatomicalphysiological structure of the brain aims to contribute to program development studies and recommends the adoption of an interdisciplinary approach by including neurological perspective to this process.
