The Effect of a Marriage and Family Life Education Program to Marital Adjustment and Family System for Married Women

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of family education program to marital adjustment and family system for married women. The experimental and control
groups of the study consist of a total of 20 people. Within these people who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study, randomly selected 10 people constitute the experimental group and the other 10 people constitute the control group. In the study, Marital Adjustment Scale was used to determine the marital adjustment levels of married women; Family Assessment Device was used to evaluate family systems of them. 12 sessions, each lasting 75 minutes, of family education program was applied to experimental group in a total of seven weeks. No application was made for control group in this sense. After the application and data collection phase, statistical analysis of the data was done. Mann-Withney U test
was used to analyse the data obtained from the scales to compare the scores of experimental and control groups that were obtained before and after the group work. In order to compare pre test and post test data of experimental and control groups, Wilcoxon signed-rank test was applied to the scores that were acquired after the application. In this manner, it was determined whether there are any differences between the groups according to the hypotheses. Significance level of statistical results was determined as 0.05. After the
research, it was determined that family education program was effective in increasing marital adjustment and state of emotional reactiveness in family system; but it was ineffective in problem solving, communication, roles, affective involvement, behaviour control and general function. Also some suggestions that may be useful for further studies
were made in line with the findings.

BİR EVLİLİK VE AİLE HAYATI EĞİTİM PROGRAMININ EVLİ KADINLARDA EVLİLİK UYUMUNA VE AİLE SİSTEMİNE ETKİSİ

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, aile eğitim programının evli kadınlarda evlilik uyumuna ve aile sistemine etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmanın deney ve kontrol grubu toplam 20 kişiden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmaya gönüllü olarak katılmayı kabul eden 20 kişi içerisinden yansız atamayla seçilen 10 kişi deney grubu, 10 kişi de kontrol grubunu oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada evli kadınların evlilik uyum düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla Evlilik Uyum Ölçeği; aile sistemlerini değerlendirmek amacıyla Aile Değerlendirme Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. 10 kişilik deney grubuna her biri 75 dakika süren 12 oturumluk aile eğitim programı toplam 7 haftada uygulanmıştır. Kontrol grubuna bu anlamda herhangi bir çalışma yapılmamıştır. Uygulama ve verilerin toplanması aşamasından sonra, elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel çözümlemeleri yapılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının uygulanan grup çalışması öncesinde ve sonrasında elde ettikleri puanlarının karşılaştırılması amacıyla, ölçeklerden elde edilen verilere Mann-Withney U Testi uygulanmıştır. Deney grubunun ve kontrol grubunun ön test ve son test verilerinin karşılaştırılması amacıyla, uygulama sonrası elde edilen puanlara Wilcoxon Eşleştirilmiş Çiftler İşaretlenmiş Sıra Sayıları Testi uygulanmıştır. Böylece denenceler doğrultusunda gruplar arasında farklılıkların olup olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen istatistik sonuçların manidarlığı 0.05 düzeyinde test edilmiştir. Yapılan araştırma sonrasında, uygulanan aile eğitim programı grup çalışmasının evlilik uyumunu ve aile sistemi içindeki duygusal tepki verebilme durumunu arttırmada etkili olduğu saptanmıştır. Ancak uygulanan eğitim programının aile sistemi içindeki problem çözme, iletişim, roller, gereken ilgiyi gösterme, davranış kontrolü ve genel fonksiyonda etkili olmadığı belirlenmiştir.
