Abstract

Creativity is a novel and original cognitive ability which may have appeared as a product based on a kind of skill, or an ability which has not yet turned into a product. It involves a peculiar problem solving process, and enables individuals to use their intelligence in a way that is unique and directed toward coming up with a product. Today, there is a need for measuring creativity in personnel selection, education and fine arts. Torrance test of creative thinking was first published in 1966 in the USA. The test measures verbal and visual creativity and has 10 subtests. The main objective of this study is to realize the statistical study concerning the language equivalency, reliability and validity of adapting the test into Turkish. Original test can be applied to individuals at nursery school, primary school, high school or university. The test was applied to all these age groups while being adapted into Turkish. Meaningful correlation coefficients were obtained in its language equivalency, reliability and validity studies.
