Abstract

Machiavellianism has tremendous influence on modern business communities. This study was aimed at analyzing the relationship and interaction effects between Machiavellianism orientation and ethical perceptionamong employees of private and public banks. Therefore, the question arises whether Machiavellian influencesare perceptibly high on Turkish bankers. The present study attempts to assess the ethical perception and Machiavellianism of 144 Bankers working in Mugla center. A questionnarie including the Mach IV scale and ethical perception scale. This study used self- reported methodology to collect a set of data for deriving the hypothesized model. Results from structural equation modeling analyses LISREL 8.51 revealed that Machiavellianist orientation and ethical perception are positively and significantly correlated. In addition to this, based onthe mean Mach IV scale, it was found that Machiavellianism orientation among employees in these banks were much higher compared to previous studies
