Abstract

The purpose of this study is to adapt the Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire (ICQ) which was originally developed by Buhrmester, Furman, Wittenberg, and Reis to Turkish and investigate the validity and reliability of the scale. The data was collected from 604 (354 female, 250 male) university students enrolled at Mersin University. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate the construct validity of the scale. Results of the study indicated that the scale composed of five factors namely, “initiating relationships”, “emotional support”, “asserting influence”, “self-disclosure”, and “conflict management”. The results also showed that internal consistency coefficients of the factors as estimated by Cronbach alpha were ranged from .74 (self disclosure) to .83 (conflict management) and test-retests (three weeks interval) coefficients were ranged from .72 (emotional support) to .89 (initiating relationship).

Kişilerarası Yetkinlik Ölçeği-Kısa Formu: Geçerlik ve Güvenirlik Çalışmaları

Year 2013, Volume: 9 Issue: 3, 144 - 158, 10.03.2014
