Aim: The research was executed to evaluate and to determine subjective well being, self compassion and burnout state of parents with mentally disabled children. Method: The crosssectional research was carried out with the parents of 101 mentally disabled individuals that pursue education in “Special Education and Rehabilitation Centers”, “Special Education-Practice School”, and “Job Training Centers” under the authority of the Ministry of National Education in Bitlis from 15.11.2013 until 15.12.2013. In collection of the data, the Personal Information Forms for determination of the features of parents, Subjective Well-Being Scale, Self-Compassion Scale and the Maslach Burnout Inventory were used. The acquired data, frequency distribution, mean, variance analysis, were analyzed with the Kruskal-Wallis test and Pearson's correlation tests. The research was carried out adhering to the ethical principles. Results: Emotional exhaustion and subjective well-being of parents with disabled individuals, were defined close to high level stage, but self compassion of the parents was detected at moderate level. It has been found that the educational status of parents made a significant difference in parents' subjective well being. Similarly, income status of the parents significantly influences burnout posture. A positive correlation between subjective well-being and self compassion and a significant negative correlation between subjective well-being and emotional burnout have been detected. Conclusions: The parents of those menthally retarded individuals with low subjective wellbeing/self compassion were suggested to be supported with psychoeducation with respect to subjective well-being, self compassion, and burnout. In addition, it’s considered that subjective well-being of the parents with low educational level can be improved by psychoeducational programs. Furthermore, providing financial aid can reduce emotional exhaustion to the parents with low income status
