Aim: It is aimed to investigate smear results, regression and progression rates after 1-year follow-up of patients with abnormal cervical smears. Material and method: The sample of our study, which is a prospective cohort, consists of 69 patients with cervical intraepithelial abnormalities who applied to the gynecology outpatient clinic within 6 months and came to their regular follow-up for 1 year after the application. Age, gravida, parity, age of first coitus, smoking status, number of partners, high-risk HPVDNA positivity and pathological colposcopy findings were compared in the groups. Results: The ages of women with abnormal smears who participated in the study were between 23 and 53. The average age was 40. There was no difference between the groups in terms of demographic characteristics. Patients in the HSIL group had a higher rate of pathological colposcopy findings than patients diagnosed with ASCUS (90% and 40%, respectively, p <0.01). There was a statistically significant difference between HSIL and LSIL groups in terms of pathological colposcopy findings (90% and 56%, respectively, p <0.05). Conclusion: In the Pap smear test, follow up with smear test in patients with ASCUS or LSIL, in patients with HSIL, colposcopic biopsy seems to be the appropriate approach.
