Aim: To evaluate serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25 (OH) D) levels in oral lichen planus patients and to determine whether there is a possible relationship between serum 25 (OH) D levels and oral lichen planus by comparing it with a control group of healthy individuals. Methods: 25 patients with oral lichen planus and 83 healthy individuals diagnosed between October 2017 and March 2018 were included in the study. Serum vitamin D levels of the study group were evaluated by high performance liquid chromatography method. Serum parathyroid hormone calcium, phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase levels were also examined. Results: 25 patients between 12- 53 years old(mean 27.56± 6.8) and 83 healthy individuals between 18-58 years old(mean: 34.38 ± 7.3) in the control group participated in our study. Serum 25 (OH) D levels were determined as an average of 21.23 ng / ml (7.34- 60.8 ng / ml) in patients with oral lichen planus. In the control group, serum 25 (OH) D levels were determined to be 23.4 ng / ml (3-69.2 ng / ml). There was no statistically significant difference between the serum vitamin D levels between the two groups(p> 0.05 ). Conclusion: According to these results, no relationship was found between oral lichen planus and serum 25 (OH) vitamin D.
