Abstract

Bu çalışma, 2001 krizi sonrası, Türk bankacılık sektöründe

finansal istikrarın gelişimi ile sistemdeki rekabet ilişkisini incelemektedir.

2003-2013 dönemi için bir finansal sağlamlık endeksi

hesaplanmış; ardından Panzar-Rosse (1987) modeli ile piyasa rekabeti

ölçülmüştür. Bankacılık sistemindeki yoğunlaşma ve yabancı

bankaların oranı kontrol değişkenler olarak analiz edilmiştir.

Analiz sonuçları, finansal istikrardaki artışın hem uzun hem kısa

dönemde rekabeti azaltıcı yönde etki ettiğini göstermektedir. Yabancı

bankaların uzun dönemli analizlerde finansal istikrarı arttırdığı;

yoğunlaşma oranlarının ise rekabete anlamlı etkide bulunduğu

dikkati çekmektedir.

Turkish Banking Sector

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the evolution of financial stability

in Turkish Banking Sector following the 2001 crisis and the impact

of competition. A financial stability index is calculated for the period

between 2003&2013 and competition is measured using Panzar-

Rosse (1987) model. The market concentration and the share

of foreign banks are also analyzed as determinants of financial

stability. According to the results, change in financial stability has

a deteriorating effect on the competition. Moreover, share of foreign

banks increase financial stability and concentration ratios are

found to have a statistically significant effect on the competition.
